Three people are dead, including a pedestrian, after a multi-vehicle crash that sent a motorcycle airborne in Azusa on Wednesday, police said.
Azusa Police responded to the area of Arrow Highway and Cerritos Avenue at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday after several 9-1-1 calls, said Lt. Jake Bushey.
Police arrived to find a collision between two motorcycles and five other vehicles.
An investigation found that two motorcycles were traveling very fast down Arrow Highway when they struck other vehicles at the intersection.
One of the motorcycles went airborne and struck a pedestrian nearby, Bushey said.
Two victims, both motorcyclists, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. A third — the pedestrian — was transported to a hospital and later died.
It’s unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, but Bushey confirmed that high speeds were at play.
The investigation was continuing late Wednesday night.
