Goin’ Back
The new versions comes as her 2018 LP Last Day of Summer went platinum
Let’s skip the Drake verse and get to Summer Walker and the girls! On Monday, as her album Last Day of Summer went platinum, the R&B songstress announced that she’ll release new versions of the LP’s standout “Girls Need Love” — but this time featuring Tyla, Tinx, and Victoria Monet on a “Girls Mix.”
“Last day of summer is officially platinum and to thank you guys after 5 years of loving this project, I’m releasing new Girls Need Love Remixes Friday,” Walker wrote on Instagram. “@champagnepapi blessed this song 5 years ago but GIRLS NEED LOVE TOO.”
The song bundle’s cover art features a tweet from Summer Walker from 2019, where she wrote, “text ur man ‘i just need some dick with no complications’ and tweet me his reply lol.” Under that tweet, she replied with the handles of the remixes’ collaborators.
Also on Monday, the singer released an acoustic version of the fan-favorite, which will also be included on the EP or song bundle out Friday. Walker released Last Day of Summer in 2018. The LP featured songs like “CPR,” “Deep,” and “Karma.”
This year, Walker joined Usher and 21 Savage on “Good Good,” dropped EP Clear 2: Soft Life, and collaborated with Bakar on “Hell N Back.” She last released her album Still Over It, featuring “No Love” with SZA, in 2021.
