The musician, wrestler, and actor brought on the Last of Us star as his translator and talked his sexual preferences
Live from New York on Saturday night, multi-hyphenate (and recent Rolling Stone cover star) Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, aka Bad Bunny, made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. The “King of Latin Trap,” WWE wrestler, and rising actor, with recent roles opposite Brad Pitt in the high-octane action flick Bullet Train and as Gael García Bernal’s lover in the wrestling drama Cassandro, not only flexed his comedy chops but also served as the night’s musical guest.
Rocking a boxy suit and shades, he kicked off his monologue by introducing himself: “Thank you very much. My name is Benito, and I’m very excited to be here on Sabado Gigante — oh, I’m sorry. SNL,” he said. “People are wondering if I can host this show because English is not my first language. I don’t know if they know, but… I do whatever I want.”
“I can host this show in English. I can order McDonald’s in English. I can have sex in English. But I prefer sex in Spanish because it’s very… I just prefer Spanish,” he added.
He then delivered a portion of his monologue in Spanish, giving a shout-out to his native Puerto Rico, with the caption reading “SPEAKING A SEXIER LANGUAGE,” before introducing none other than Pedro Pascal (!) as his translator.
After delivering a long statement in Spanish, Pascal joking translated it to: “He says I’m blessed to be here with my favorite actor, Pedro Pascal.”
“I know what you’re doing, Pedro,” Bad Bunny replied. “I know. But can you at least give me advice on my monologue?”
“I find it’s always charming when you make a self-deprecating joke. It’s like, you make a joke about a part of your body or your face that’s unflattering,” said Pascal.
“I don’t have any!” exclaimed Bad Bunny.
