This UO Sleeveless Sweater Seen on Olivia Rodrigo Is Giving Us Major Fall Vibes — And It’s Only $45

It’s gearing up to be a very cozy, very Y2K fall, if Olivia Rodrigo‘s recent look is any indication. In a TikTok video posted on Oct. 4, we spotted the artist behind Guts stepping out in a sleeveless sweater vest and black maxi skirt that embodied the peak autumnal trends of 2023, from vibrant primary colors (interwoven with pops of black anchoring, of course), and early Aughts-inspired vests galore. 

Rodrigo embraced these autumnal fashion trends while parodying her songwriting process in the aforementioned TikTok, typing frantically with sped-up footage of her playing guitar as she makes a tongue-and-cheek commentary on writing about “some loser guy [she] shouldn’t waste [her] breath on”. Prominently showing off her crimson vest, Rodrigo styled the piece as-is, forgoing the typical fall layering or popular “oversized” baggy look for a more chic, streamlined style.

Feeling inspired by Rodrigo’s look? We tracked down the piece at Urban Outfitters, and it’s surprisingly affordable (and quickly selling out!). Rodrigo’s vest is actually the Santorini Buttoned Sweater Vest, which is being sold for $45 and features a five-button design that looks comfy enough on its own, but can be paired nicely under a baggy flannel or with a white, long-sleeve dress shirt and high-waisted jeans. Perfect for layering as the warmer days transition into crisp, cooler fall weather, you could also add some tights and a miniskirt or over a floor-length dress to dress the vest up (pumpkin-picking anyone?).

Even if Rodrigo’s fire-red, leaf color is out of stock, the sweater vest is also available in three other fall-friendly colors, including black, navy-and-cream argyle, and a very Sour-esque lavender-and-olive argyle palette. While Rodrigo’s footwear isn’t visible in the TikTok video, if you need some footwear suggestions, may we recommend ballet flats (which are very appropriate this season), or loafers like these 3989 Bex Smooth Leather Brogue Dr. Martens she famously wore during her 2021 SNL performance of “Driver’s License”.

While it very much fits into Rodrigo’s traditionally preppy look, there’s that pop punk edge to the look that has defined her Guts-era aesthetic — the singer pairing the Santorini vest with silver knuckle rings and chipped, black nail polish (like the $11 Black Onyx by OPI shade Rodrigo’s nail artist frequently uses) is giving us big Avril Lavigne circa 2002 vibes.
