Bella Dose Are Baby Dolls That Bite Back in ‘Crybaby’ Video

Annabelle, M3gan, and Chucky have nothing on these dolls. On Wednesday, Latina girl group Bella Dose released the music video for their L-Pop standout “Crybaby,” which sees the group’s four members dressed as baby dolls as they sing to an ex.

“We wanted the ‘Crybaby’ music video to be highly animated and give that camp feel. We gave the watcher freedom to interpret the video in their own way — it can be scary, creepy, cute,” the group tells Rolling Stone. “The reason why we decided to be dolls is that sometimes partners tend to emotionally manipulate you and expect you to keep acting emotionless and unbothered, but dolls can go crazy, too.”

The Vicky Curiel-directed video sees the group — comprising Melany Rivera, Thais Rodriguez, Brianna Leah, and Jenni Hernandez — posing from inside an old house, playing with children’s toys as they sing to an immature ex.

“Don’t be a crybaby/Acceptin’ all donations to your cause,” the girls harmonize in the chorus. “Oh, sick of all your damn tantrums/Looks like you ain’t a man aftеr all.”

Bella Dose, which Rolling Stone named one of the 10 Latin Acts Set To Make It Big In 2023, released its album L-Pop back in September, featuring songs such as “Mírame,” “Tongue Tied,” and “Bite.” The LP followed their debut Spanish record, Suelta, in 2021. The group is currently touring with Sorry Papi!, a nationwide all-girls reggaeton party. They also attended this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The group has had a pivotal year, and were supported by Shakira twice after the group shared a video dancing to her songs “El Jefe” with Fuerza Regida and “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap.

“We are very grateful to Shakira, who gave us the opportunity of being mentioned in a post,” Rodriguez previously told Billboard. “We’re happy with the support we have received and the opportunities that are coming our way as a result of this.”
