It’s always heartbreaking when someone loses their life due to a senseless act of violence.
Officer Ryan Clickunbroomer had really just started his life at the age of 30-years-old. He was working as a training field officer for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, and had just celebrated his engagement to his girlfriend four days prior, when he was murdered just outside of a LA police station.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department provided this statement when the heinous act took place:
“Deputy Clinkunbroomer was ambushed while conducting routine patrol duties. He was in full uniform, driving a marked patrol vehicle, and had just left the Palmdale Station.
Deputy Clinkunbroomer was alone in his vehicle when he stopped at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q in Palmdale. Shortly thereafter, a Good Samaritan discovered him unconscious in his vehicle and promptly alerted Palmdale Station personnel.
Deputy Clinkunbroomer was rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where dedicated medical staff made every effort to treat a gunshot wound he had sustained. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.”
The horrifying incident took place back on September 16th, and after pleading for more information from the community, the department was finally able to arrest and charge someone with the murder of Clinkunbroomer in late September.
Clinkunbroomer obviously had a lot of life ahead of him before his passing, especially with the engagement to his girlfriend. The officer had also recently visited Nashville and stopped by John Rich’s Broadway bar.
Clinkunbroomer had hung up one of his LA Police patches at the Redneck Riveria, and John Rich made sure to spotlight the moment and the officer when he found out about his tragic passing.
Rich posted on his Instagram account:
“Officer Ryan Clinkunbroomer, eight year vet of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, came to my bar, Redneck Riveria, to hang his patch on our wall.
A few days later he proposed to his girlfriend and life was good. Four days later, he was murdered while sitting in his patrol car. His patch will be a PERMANENT fixture on our wall as a reminder of his service and sacrifice to his fellow citizens.
Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
So sad, but a great message from country music legend John Rich. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Clickunbroomer’s loved ones…
