WhistlePig Whiskey is celebrating the 45th anniversary of The Last Waltz with a new Rye Whiskey release, dubbed “Robbie’s Blend.”

An official collaboration between WhistlePig and the late Robbie Robertson, the bottling features a 12-year-old Canadian “Old World” rye that’s finished in port, madeira and sauternes casks. The distiller says to expect a whiskey with hints of sweetness and spice, balanced by notes of ripe citrus, cedar, walnut and crushed white pepper.

The “Robbie’s Blend” whiskey is available now for $175 on the WhistlePig website. The whiskey is being released in conjunction with the 45th anniversary vinyl re-issue of The Last Waltz, the seminal soundtrack to the 1978 documentary of the same name. As part of the collaboration, the “Robbie’s Blend” bottles have been dipped in wax that includes melted vinyl from the album. The whiskey is also timed to the November 5 one-night-only screening of The Last Waltz at more than 600 theaters nationwide, through Fathom Events (see tickets and showtimes here).

While Robertson passed away in August, WhistlePig said the leader of The Band worked closely with their team on the rye. In a press release, the Vermont Distillery says Robbie’s Blend was, “Crafted under Robbie Robertson’s watchful eye” and “harmonizes the heartfelt notes of The Band with the complexity of three Old World Wine barrels. Created with the same collaborative mindset as the concert itself, WhistlePig and Robbie Robertson have come together to bring you the perfect accompaniment to fans’ traditional Thanksgiving viewings of the iconic concert film and album The Last Waltz, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year.”
