Time flies when you are having fun, right?
Three years ago today, Zach Bryan stepped onto the historic Grand Ole Opry stage for the first time. He’s come a long way from serving in the Navy and releasing songs on YouTube, to now being one of the most recognizable names in not just country music… all music.
Zach Bryan stepped into the circle for the first time that night, not only further impressing those in the audience who knew his name but capturing the hearts of those who did not know the Oklahoma native.
Looking back on ZB’s debut interview, it’s honestly humbling hearing him talk about how astonished he was that he had such a viral moment. Now he has achieved view numbers and streaming numbers that I am sure never even crossed his mind. His dad was not wrong when he said:
“He’s unstoppable. He really is; he is just an amazing kid and always has been. When he was 10 or 11, I bought him a statute that said, ‘Dream big.’ He took it to a whole new level, and he is just getting started.”
Dewayne Bryan knew what he was saying in that interview three years ago. Now, he gets to see his son live out his dream, selling out arena after arena and traveling to all corners of the country.
Zach Bryan took the circle and made the moment about his family, dedicating the “Sweet DeAnn” to his late mother.
“I wouldn’t be here without my family and the people who love me, and my mom… I wish she could be here.
So, I decided before the Opry tonight I was gonna sing songs that meant something to me. I didn’t want to sing something that people wanted to hear… so this is a song I wrote called ‘Sweet DeAnn.’”
The Turnpike t-shirt was a nice touch too…
