Posty making the most of his time at CMA Fest.
Of course Post Malone has been a regular fixture around country music lately. From performing at the CMA and ACM Awards to finally announcing his first full-length country album coming this year, it’s been really cool to see how much he’s seemed to embrace country music, which is one of the big reasons country music has embraced him when it has been slower to welcome other artists from outside the genre.
Post has, of course, often paid tribute to the country legends in the past, from covering the Hank Williams classic “Honky Tonk Blues” to performing Sturgill Simpson songs alongside Dwight Yoakam’s band. But he’s said before that it’s long been a dream of his to collaborate with George Strait.
During a 2015 interview, Posty confessed that he wanted to work with King George:
“I put myself on country whenever I started playing guitar… I’m gonna get a rhinestone suit and a guitar strap with my name on it.
I wanna work with George Strait, Toby Keith… there’s too many people.”
And during his country covers set at Stagecoach Festival back in April, Post even broke out some George Strait with his cover of “Check Yes Or No.”
Well it turns out Posty’s got quite a few George Strait songs in his catalog. Last night during a surprise appearance at Spotify House at Ole Red during CMA Fest, he not only performed his own country song “I Had Some Help,” but also broke out the classic “Carrying Your Love With Me.”
