Wyatt Flores Secures First Platinum Single With “Please Don’t Go”

Music

The first of many for the boy from Oklahoma.

Just days before what many are calling one of the greatest sets they’ve ever seen at Laurel Cove Music Fest, Wyatt Flores was officially awarded his first ever platinum certification.

“Please Don’t Go,” his second career single released in July of 2022, is easily Flores’ most recognized song, having racked up over 121 million streams on Spotify alone, and after being certified Gold by the RIAA last November he achieved a mark that’s rarely seen by an independent artist, let alone one who still can’t rent a car for a few years.

As of June 5th, 2024, “Please Don’t Go” officially sold 1 million certified units, which is a combination of actual sales and online streams, giving it the coveted Platinum tag.

The calculation for RIAA certified units used to be a bit more complicated, but currently for singles it’s one unit for each purchase/permanent download or 150 on-demand audio/video streams. Only videos released by the artist’s company/label count for the certification and only streams and downloads in the US count.

It may be his first platinum certification but it damn well won’t be his last. There’s always artists on our radar that “might be the next big thing” and Wyatt’s been there for awhile, but what truly sets him apart, beyond his songwriting and vocal talent, is the passion he puts into his performances. Admittedly, I haven’t seen him live (yet) but when I get the chance I’ll be jumping all over it before my only option is heading to whatever arena he’s headlining in a few years.

If Wyatt’s playing a show in your neck of the woods, don’t miss the opportunity to say you “saw him back when” and grab some tickets on VividSeats. They give you a free ticket for every 10 you buy and there’s no better time to start earning those rewards than this summer.

Let’s crank this one up and kick the week off strong.
