George Strait Honors Law Enforcement As Crowd Breaks Out Into USA Chant After Assassination Attempt On Donald Trump

Honoring the men and women who run towards the danger.

Obviously we saw that firsthand yesterday as we watched in horror when a shooter attempted to assassinate former President and current Republican nominee Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

While there’s plenty that’s been said (and will be said) about the security failures that allowed it to happen, that doesn’t change the fact that as soon as gunshots rang out, the brave men and women of the Secret Service and law enforcement immediately ran onstage and put themselves in the line of fire, and ran towards the innocent victims in the crowd.

Of course that’s the same bravery that we see from our law enforcement and first responders every day, and the sacrifices they make should never go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Last night at his concert at Ford Field in Detroit, George Strait took a minute to honor our law enforcement and address the assassination attempt on Trump:

“This song we’re gonna do is especially for all you men and women out there who wear the badge. Wanna say how much we appreciate you. Thank you for coming when we need you, when we call you. We appreciate that very much, especially after today.”

The crowd roared with applause, breaking out into a USA chant as Strait pumped them up.

He then performed “The Weight of the Badge,” his 2019 single from his album Honky Tonk Time Machine honoring the brave men and women of law enforcement.

God bless our brave men and women in law enforcement.
