Timmy Tyler Childers may be filling up arenas these days, and hoping on stage alongside pop superstars like Olivia Rodrigo, but naturally, it wasn’t always like that.
This video has been around for a while now (we actually first shared it back in 2019), but if nothing else, it serves to show us just how far Tyler Childers has come. And just how talented he was at a young age.
From way back in 2011 when Childers was just 20 years old, probably somewhere near Lexington, Kentucky, he’s seen sitting in a living room with a few friends it appears, and he pulls out his acoustic guitar and plays one of his OG hits, “Shake the Frost.”
I always love revisiting old videos of country artists like this, because the people in the room have absolutely no clue that the guy sitting in front of them is going to be the face of the independent country music in the very near future.
Just like the girl sitting next to Childers. She’s sitting there on her laptop, and probably has no idea how much potential this guy has, and definitely didn’t know that he would be a 7-time Grammy nominee.
Or… maybe she did. Either way, it’s an incredible blast from the past.

And if you haven’t checked out his new song “Song While You’re Away” from the new Twisters movie yet, give it a listen.
