Kameron Marlowe Enlists Marcus King For Soulful Reimagination Of “High Hopes”

Music

Here for this.

Kameron Marlowe teamed up with Marcus King, blending country twangs with silky smooth blues notes to create a heater of a duet, “High Hopes.” Marlowe is not slowing down anytime soon, and this reimagination of “High Hopes” shows that he is still riding the high since the release of his sophomore album, Keepin’ The Lights On.

“High Hopes” was an early standout from his sophomore album. Marlowe sang about keeping his hopes high that a love who walked away would one day return through the door. While he knows that is unlikely, he is still hanging on, and the lyrics poetically detail the struggle of being stuck on what once was versus where the relationship is today.

Written by Josh Osborne, Trevor Rosen, and Brad Tursi, Marlowe was the perfect artist to pick up this track. His thick North Carolina twangs coat your ears as he sings the heartbreak ballad. While I loved the song with only Marlowe, he decided to amp it up a bit, bringing Marcus King to reimagine the tune.

Given that King does not often collaborate on songs, Marlowe was more than honored that he thought this one was worth hopping on.

“It’s an absolute honor to have Marcus King on this song with me. I’ve been such a huge fan of his, and having him on ‘High Hopes’ just brings it to an entirely new level!”

King’s South Carolina twang pairs perfectly with Marlowe’s, and his deep love for the blues brings a new light to the track. This duet is a perfect blend of their two styles, joining harmoniously. The breakdown at the end of the song, with the ripping of the electric guitar as the two toss the words back and forth to each other, makes for a stellar ending to the single.

“I’ve got high hopes and low expectations
My glass is half empty, and that old country station
Is playin’ our songs and it’s hurtin’ just right
I’ve got low expectations, but my hopes are high
My hopes are high…”

This one is well worth firing up.
