Jung Kook Announces Solo Documentary ‘I Am Still,’ Heading to Theaters

Even as he breaks new ground as an artist, Jung Kook is taking a moment to reflect on his rise. The BTS member has announced the career-spanning solo documentary Jung Kook: I Am Still, opening in theaters in more than 120 countries and regions beginning Sept. 18.

I Am Still was directed by Junsoo Park and produced by Jiwon Yoon. According to a synopsis for the release, the film will center around exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage with additional elements captured during Jung Kook’s live performances. “I just follow my own compass,” a quote from the musician reads.

The documentary spans the eight months that Jung Kook spent crafting his debut solo single, “Seven,” which features Latto. His first album, Golden, which also includes “3D” with Jack Harlow and “Standing Next to You,” arrived in November 2023.

I Am Still will be distributed across locations, with the exception of Korea and Japan, by Trafalgar Releasing. The distributors were also behind the release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé last year. They will also be releasing Usher‘s Rendezvous in Paris concert film the same week that Jung Kook’s film hits theaters.

“Bringing Jung Kook’s story to the big screen is a testament to the power of shared experiences, and we can’t wait for fans to come together and enjoy this film with fellow ARMY (BTS’ fandom),” Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby shared in a statement.

The film will also offer fans a chance to reconnect with Jung Kook from afar as he completes his mandatory military service. The musician enlisted in December 2023, writing a note to fans on Weverse that read: “I came to say my final goodbyes. Be healthy and well. I’ll come back safely.”

Earlier this summer, Jung Kook shared the new single “Never Let Go,” which, according to BTS label Big Hit Music, was “dedicated to their fans, ARMY, conveying a sincere message to never let go of each other.”
