49ers Star George Kittle Endorses Jelly Roll As Super Bowl Halftime Show Performer

Could Jelly Roll be tapped to play the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

It’s still early to make the call for the big performance, but there’d certainly be a large grouping of fans that would happily watch Jelly Roll bring his anthemic, stadium-filling sound to the Super Bowl. And if he did, that would obviously open the door for country music – in some form or fashion – to make it back to the big stage that it so often used to be a part of.

The last time a country music act “headlined” the Super Bowl Halftime Show was all the way back in 2003, when Shania Twain played Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego, California. And then obviously, country stars like Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and Reba McEntire have been trusted to perform National Anthems in recent years. But it’s been a while since country has really taken center stage, and Jelly Roll could be the foot that gets country music back in the door.

The good news is that the rapper-turned-country-artist already has some high-profile NFL players going to bat in his favor (sorry to use a non-football sports phrase there). George Kittle, the star tight-end for the San Francisco 49ers, gave a shoutout to the “Halfway to Hell” singer while he was on the Up & Adams show earlier today.

Kay Adams asked Kittle who he wanted to do the Super Bowl Halftime show this upcoming season, and it didn’t take Kittle very long to drum up a response. It seemed as though he had been waiting for someone to ask him this question, because as soon as it was thrown his way, the tight-end quickly answered:

“Jelly Roll.”

Short, sweet, and to the point – one could even say right to the artist. I’d happily settle in for a Halftime performance headlined by Jelly Roll, and with some of his more recent collaborations, you could almost guarantee some big name country artists would join him out on stage.

So here’s to the official start of the “Jelly Roll for the Super Bowl Halftime Show” campaign. Jelly’s already got George Kittle on his side…
