Running it back.
After a lengthy hiatus, Brooks & Dunn revitalized their career in 2019 with the release of Reboot, a collection of hits from the Grammy-winning duo that features guest performances from some of the best in the business. We’re talking the likes of Cody Johnson, Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves, Jon Pardi and more.
And now, they doing it again with a whole new cast of artists, and even more songs.
Titled Reboot 2, the new collaborations album will feature Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Riley Green, Hailey Whitters and more, and this time around, the artists were given 100% creative freedom to re-imagine the Brooks & Dunn hit of their choice, unique to their own personal style. The album will run the gamut from progressive country and classic bluegrass to heavy metal, orchestral pop and beyond, with a little ‘90s grunge, ‘70s style studio rock, and swampy soul mixed in.
Ronnie Dunn says:
“The premise of the project was ‘No rules.’ For this one, we purposely loosened the screws and turned ‘em loose to do whatever they wanted. We actually went way off the rails, in a good way.”
Kix Brooks adds:
“This project is a lot more out of bounds. Artists were going, ‘Would it be okay if we did this?’ It was like ‘Yeah! Let’s do it.’ We dealt with rock bands and blues bands and all kinds of genres, all over the place.”
The result is a truly collaborative collection of music, one where the artist being honored essentially takes a backseat to the creative process… a pretty cool approach. It’s not uncommon for artists to be emotionally attached to their original arrangements, and rather stubborn about how it gets performed. Brooks and Dunn are quite the opposite as evidenced by this upcoming album.
The album is set for release on November 15th. Check out the final tracklist:
