Whitey Morgan & The 78’s Are BACK With New Single “Let Me Roll”

Music

Whitey Morgan is BACK.

With his first release since his 2018 studio album, Hard Times and White Lines, Whitey Morgan and his ban, The 78’s, are finally back in the studio and appear to be working with Shooter Jennings on this next project.

A lot of people like to throw around the “outlaw” term, or even “modern-day outlaw,” but Whitey Morgan is one of the few names that truly fits the bill, and his latest single, “Let Me Roll, continues to carry that torch. The Flint, Michigan, native (now residing in rural California) has been road warrior for the past 15 years, and has released a handful of phenomenal country albums… and it sounds like more is on the way:

“Glad everyone’s been digging the new song, felt great to get back in the studio and lay that one down with my guy Shooter Jennings. Next step is playing it live for y’all at THE RYMAN on January 18! We’ll have a couple more new songs before then, too… Let’s roll!”

And for fans of his critically-acclaimed Sonic Ranch album, as well as his stellar previous work, Morgan took to social media to explain that this (presumably) upcoming project will be a little bit of a departure from the sounds we know and love:

“If they really knew me, they’d know that my musical tastes are very broad… and it’s not like I’m jumping over this cliff… I’m just leaning a little more this way.

I can only do so many drop-D f***ing half-time songs. I know I’ve been doing that forever but sometimes you gotta graduate to something else. And it makes me happy so f***, that’s all I can do at this point.”

Whenever Whitey is making music, I’m here for it…
