The TikTok star will begin a limited three-month engagement on Oct. 29

TikTok star Charli D’Amelio is taking her famous dance moves from the app to the Broadway stage. D’Amelio will make her Broadway debut in & Juliet, the irreverent jukebox musical version of Shakespeare’s classic tale, producers announced Monday.

D’Amelio is best known for her rapid rise as a dancer on TikTok. The 20 year old was involved in competitive dance throughout her childhood, but it was her dance moves during the Covid-19 pandemic that took her from the average Connecticut teen to a teen star. As the second most followed person on TikTok, D’Amelio has become a social media personality, complete with her own reality show — The D’Amelio Show — and she has a Mirrorball trophy for winning a season of Dancing With the Stars

The TikTok starlet will take on the role of Charmian, which producers describe as a “dance-heavy” role in the musical. D’Amelio will begin performing Oct. 29 for a three-month engagement, ending her run on Jan. 19, 2025.

For the uninitiated, & Juliet picks up where Shakespeare’s famous Romeo and Juliet saga leaves off. But instead, what if Juliet didn’t die? The music is sung entirely with songs from Max Martin‘s discography — the famed Swedish producer behind some of the biggest chart-toppers in pop — and uses famous girl pop anthems from artists like Britney Spears, Kesha, and Katy Perry to rewrite Juliet’s story and (hopefully) change her ending.

“I’m beyond excited to join the Broadway community — it’s a dream I’ve had since I was a little girl,” D’Amelio said in a statement. “To be able to make my Broadway debut — especially in the cast of & Juliet, is truly a dream come true, and I can’t wait to share this experience with everyone.”
