Elon Musk Says It Would Be ‘Pointless’ to Assassinate Kamala Harris

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and Donald Trump’s most pathetic supporter, hands down, joked on Monday about the prospect of someone assassinating Vice President Kamala Harris or Joe Biden.

Speaking with conservative pundit Tucker Carlson, Musk referenced a post he had previously made on X, the platform he owns, and wisely deleted.

“I made a joke, which I realize I deleted, which was like, nobody’s even bothering to try to kill Kamala, because it’s pointless,” Musk said. “What do you achieve?” he continued, suggesting the vice president would be replaced by another “puppet.” He added, “Nobody’s trying to kill Joe Biden. It would be pointless.”

Musk made his comments during Carlson’s show  on X, where he broadcasts now after he was fired by Fox News in 2023. Carlson said Musk was “totally right,” before clarifying: “You actually put that up?”

Yep. Last month, Musk quoted a pro-Trump account that asked, “Why do they want to kill Donald Trump?” The Tesla CEO wrote in response: “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala 🤔”

The billionaire’s previous remarks were made shortly after Secret Service agents stopped an apparent second assassination plot against Trump, this time as he was golfing at his West Palm Beach golf club.

“Some people interpreted it as though I was calling for people to assassinate her, but I was like… doesn’t it seem strange that no one’s even bothered to try?” Musk explained Monday. It’s not clear how the Secret Service interpreted Musk’s original post, though the agency acknowledged being “aware” of it.

As the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk has one of the largest megaphones on the planet. By early Tuesday morning, Musk’s conversation with Carlson already had 15 million views. Musk’s talk about the notion of someone killing Harris began 45 seconds into the interview.

Musk, who’s worth a reported $259 billion, has become one of Trump’s top supporters — leading a Super PAC, called America PAC, that has already spent $78 million boosting Trump’s 2024 campaign. Trump’s campaign has effectively outsourced its field operations to the Super PAC. On Monday, America PAC began offering $47 to registered voters in battleground states who sign a petition and refer another registered voter.

While some of America PAC’s pro-Trump messages have been impossibly cringey, the group has also run online ads depicting Harris laughing while engulfed in flames.

Much of its advertising has attempted to build support based on Trump surviving his first assassination attempt in July, when a shooter injured Trump’s ear with a bullet at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. America PAC has called Trump a “Badass Assassination Surviver [sic].”

Trump returned to the Butler rally site for another event over the weekend. Musk joined the former president, jumping around on stage in a widely-mocked performance. There, Musk described himself as “dark MAGA” and suggested that if people don’t elect Trump again, “this will be the last election.”
