Zach Top’s “I Never Lie” Spurs Movement From Texas Teen Who Suffered Severe Electrical Burns In Farming Accident

Music

Music is healing.

This has to be one of the most powerful videos I’ve seen on my daily TikTok scrolls recently. We all know the phrase “music is healing” or “music moves us all,” but seeing it in action is truly a magical moment. There is beauty in the pain in this video as well.

A video was shared on TikTok of a young man in a hospital bed hooked up to a plethora of machines. The high school senior from Hamilton, Texas, was harvesting peanuts when his tractor came into contact with a power line and he suffered severe electric burns. He was revived by CPR and immediately airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he underwent surgery to amputate his arm and a few of his toes. According to family, he will need at least 10 more surgeries, both on his arm as well as skin grafts, in addition to a ton a physical therapy and rehab.

For reference, this was his shirt after the electric shock:

Kid is tough as nails…

In the background of the hospital room, viewers can hear the whine of the guitar as Zach Top delivers the melancholy lyrics of “I Never Lie.”

As the song’s chorus plays in the background, the young man in the hospital bed starts to strum his arm like he’s playing guitar slowly and every so slightly moves his foot to the beat of the melody. The movements are simple, but as anyone who has dealt with a loved one going through severe trauma, slight movement is better than no movement at all.

The video is highly emotional, not only because you see someone who is recovering from a life-altering accident, but also because the soft music in the background is stirring a reaction that nothing else can. Music is the one thing that brings everyone together and can heal us all. It’s powerful stuff, man.

We hope that the young man in the video makes a full recovery and can one day belt out the words of “I Never Lie” from the crowd.

Check out some of the comments left on the video.

“As an ICU RN this right here is why I ask EVERY family what kind of music their family member likes & I keep music playing while they’re vented.”

“Man likes good music, prayers for his recovery and healing.”

“Music can do wonders.”

“He’s feeling that guitar rhythm! Awesome.”

“My son did this when he turned 19/work accident. He’s 37 today.”

“Prayers for a full recovery! Keep playing that music!”

“Zach Top, I hope y’all see this.”

“This is so beautiful and a testament that music really speaks to the mind.”

Zach’s guitar/fiddle player Cheyenne also commented on the video:

“Prayers from me, Zach, and the whole crew for complete healing. This really leaves us speechless.”

Looks like he is doing a little better in this next video, but no doubt about it, he’s got a long road ahead of him. Prayers up ol’ son.
