Wasn’t expecting that one.
Eric Church and Luke Combs are hosting their Concert for Carolina tonight, an all-star benefit show at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to raise money for those in North Carolina who were devastated by Hurricane Helene last month.
The North Carolina natives put together a massive lineup including James Taylor (who Eric admits he had to stalk to get his attention), Keith Urban, Chase Rice, Scotty McCreery and many more.
Church performed an acoustic set for the sold-out crowd, and during his part of the show he announced that he was going to cover a song that he’d never played before. And as soon as he kicked off the first verse, people knew exactly what it was:
“Livin’ my life in a slow hell, different girl every night at the hotel”
He was, of course, talking about Kid Rock’s 2001 song “Picture,” a duet he released with Sheryl Crow. And after he got through the first verse, Crow joined him onstage for an epic duet:

It may have been his first time playing the song, but Crow praised Church for his performance during the song:
“Hey, we’re pretty good.”
Obviously the crowd loved it, because that’s a badass song. I’ve drunkenly sang it at karaoke a time or 200 myself, but I’ll admit, Church’s cover was a lot better.
Maybe add that one to the “Mistress Named Music” medley on the next tour?
