NCIS Origins Season 1 Episode 6 Spoilers

NCIS Origins Season 1 Episode 6 Spoilers

Television

How do you take an already ridiculously attractive cast like the stars of NCIS: Origins and make them even shinier? Throw them into formal wear and send them out for a night on the town.

That’s what “Incognito” is serving viewers in its promo. However, the main thing to take away is the clear spotlight on Special Agent Lala Dominguez.

Since the start of NCIS: Origins, fans have been eagerly awaiting to see when Lala and Gibbs’s stories would, shall we say, entangle. Her character also hasn’t been developed nearly as much as others.

Hopefully, now halfway through the premiere season of NCIS: Origins, the writers will connect the dots and explain how this is also “the story of her.” I can still hear Mark Harmon.

NCIS: Origins Is Finally Shining A Long-Awaited Spotlight On Special Agent Lala

Since the NCIS: Origins Season 1 Premiere, Agent Lala has been present and accounted for in every episode; we know she’s intelligent, talented, and has a good heart despite Franks’ initial assumption that she was trying to cozy up to Gibbs.

However, the series has yet to prove how her character is critical to Gibbs’s journey. If she were just another supporting character, that would be fine, but the show built her up to be a pivotal part of the plot.

This one is all on the writers and showrunners because Mariel Molino (Promised Land) has been kicking butt as Lala. Wait until you see how incredible she looks in her dress. The leg slit while holding a gun is everything.

It gave Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith in the best way. I guess Franks knew what he was doing.

At the start of the promo, the seasoned agent and team leader can be heard telling Lala that she will be Gibbs’s “Arm Candy” for the evening. It’s a little sexist, but goodness, he was not wrong.

Could Franks Have A Trick Up His Sleeve Or Just Be Looking For The Easiest Solution?

A thought occurred to me about the pairing on this particular mission. Could Franks be trying to play matchmaker? Hear me out because it wouldn’t be the craziest thing.

As we all saw in the tumultuous NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 5, Franks might be too in touch with his emotions. I would not put it past him to test the water with Gibbs.

The history between Gibbs and Franks is rooted in a deep brotherly love and mentorship. And we know Franks takes a particular interest in certain cases he deems unresolved.

So, he could be trying to speed up Gibbs’s recovery by giving him a nudge back out into the dating world. However, choosing someone for Gibbs in the workplace is a terrible and very Franks idea.

It’s also likely he chose Lala because she was the closest woman in his vicinity. You never really know with Franks (Kyle Schmid). Either way, he made a good call.

At the very least, the series is doing what many fans hoped it would do: throw a spotlight on someone other than Gibbs.

Don’t get me wrong – the very talented Austin Stowell brings the character to life with so much depth and emotion. However, this is “Origins” in the plural. Step aside, handsome.

Between Gibbs And Franks, NCIS: Origins Has Shed Enough Masculine Tears To Fill A Bucket

The official synopses for NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 6 reads: “Gibbs goes undercover for the first time with Lala as NIS works the case of a dead Navy seaman who may have been sharing top-secret intel that poses a threat to national security.

“Also, Lala struggles with her place on the team and an unexpected development in her personal life.”

Honestly, after some truly emotionally intense episodes like NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 4, the description for “Incognito” sounds like a casual work day for the NIS.

Between the plot and the formal costuming, the series may be trying to add a little more fun to the show. It would be a welcomed change in pace.

So far, NCIS: Origins has been one emotional meltdown after another. Between Gibbs and Franks, enough masculine tears have been shed to fill a bucket.

Now would be a good time to let the characters and the audience laugh. A little levity goes a long way.

The best part of the description for “Incognito” is that it confirms that we will get more Lala than we have in the last five episodes.

Ten bucks says she and Gibbs have one of those moments where they smile at each other while the rest of the world fades away. I’m not mad about it either.

It All Comes Down To How NCIS: Origins Chooses To Depict The History Already Told On NCIS

Lord knows Gibbs needs all the reasons to smile he can get. He has not had an easy journey, as we know from NCIS.

In NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 5, we learned that Gibbs did indeed walk towards enemy territory to end his life after learning his wife and daughter were killed.

It was such a powerful moment for Gibbs, and it spoke volumes about the kind of man he was and how broken it left him. However, since then, he’s made incredible strides in recovery.

Still, I agree with the characters who say Gibbs shouldn’t be in the field yet. I get that he’s the kind of guy who can’t just sit at a desk, but that’s not an excuse to be a liability.

If Lala hadn’t stopped Gibbs in “Last Rites,” he might have shot those Hispanic men in the truck Lala was trying to send away. Then again, there may be only one thing that can set Gibbs right.

We all know what’s coming. Gibbs (Austin Stowell) is going to track down the man who murdered his family and kill him. But what happens leading up to it?

That’s the task NCIS: Origins has at hand. Will the show depict the events leading up as they have been told?

Or, is history about to be rewritten with new information previously left unmentioned? There are a lot of moving parts to NCIS: Origins that have worked in its favor.

However, one lousy plot point or character arc can send a series spiraling down the drain. But at its core, NCIS: Origins is a show about hope.

It’s about how even after the worst thing imaginable happens to you, you can still go on living. It’s about being a survivor. Sometimes, all you need is a tiny spark of hope.
