Blackberry Smoke Releases Longtime Fan Favorite “Come Go With Us”

Giving fans what they’ve been asking for.

Blackberry Smoke are Southern rock royalty. Hailing from the great state of Georgia, they are a cornerstone band in the modern-day Southern rock movement, carrying the torch with bands like Whiskey Myers, The Steel Woods and more. With two decades and some change under their belt, Blackberry Smoke have influenced many of today’s popular country artists who lean more into the rock world, like HARDY.

While they are known for their face-melting shows, the men of Blackberry Smoke know how to do a slow ballad like no other, which leads us to their latest release, “Come Go With Us.” For over a decade, Blackberry Smoke has been playing this song, and fans have asked time and time again for them to release it.

After making fans wait, they finally gifted them the beloved single.

“People have been asking about this one song for a long time. It’s an old song, but now it’s a new song. And you can finally stream it on all of your favorite streaming services. It’s the closest thing we will probably ever come to a holiday song- just in time for the holidays. It’s called ‘Come Go With Us.’ Hope you enjoy it.”

Charlie Starr said in a video promoting the single to their followers. In the post’s caption, he added what inspired the song’s touching lyrics.

“This song is a childhood’s worth of conversations that I overheard at family holiday gatherings. The kinda stuff that attaches itself to you and never turns loose. Covered dishes and snuff-dipping kinda talk. I miss it a lot.”

The lyrics perfectly depict the conversations one might hear at the Thanksgiving table or during a family gathering around Christmas. From seeing extended relatives to hearing your mother nag about picking up the house before company comes over, the holidays are filled with small talk, but those nothingness conversations often stick with you as you age.

The lyrics are paired with a soothing composition with a heavy acoustic melody.

“Y’all get this room picked up
I mean it while go get dressed
Y’all come on in
How you doin’
Sorry ’bout the mess

Come give me some sugar
Good to see ya
Y’all doin’ okay
Well Honey you have lost weight
We’ll probably gain it all back today…”

Getting this song was a lengthy wait, but well worth it.

This is the first song that Blackberry Smoke has released since the tragic passing of their drummer, Brit Turner.

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has moved on from this life. If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know he was the most caring, empathetic, driven and endearing person one could ever hope to meet.

Brit was Blackberry Smoke’s True North, the compass that instituted the ideology that will continue to guide this band. Brit has battled glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and fought every day. We ask for prayers for his family and band brothers.

Turner passed in March after battling brain cancer, and while the band misses him dearly, they are making sure his legacy never dies. As I listen to this single, I can feel that Turner is still very present in the band, although he might not physically be on earth.

I bet he is listening to this song on repeat up above.

Make sure to catch the fellas out on the road next year:
