Watch Flatland Cavalry’s Entire Ryman Auditorium Debut

Music

Precisely what the doctor orders as I rot on the couch, still digesting yesterday’s Christmas dinner.

During the fall, Flatland Cavalry made its headline debut at the Mother Church, Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The historic stage is the original location of the Grand Ole Opry, and for many artists, it holds the same sacred feeling as stepping into the Opry’s circle for the first time. It’s a huge honor to play the stage and to headline a show, which is even more of a milestone accomplishment.

Flatland Cavalry is no stranger to that feeling as they shared how special it was for them when the show occurred and noted before Christmas that it was a career highlight for them in 2024.

“One of our favorite memories of 2024 was getting to have our first headlining show at The Mother Church, The Ryman. We will never forget how special it felt to hear everyone’s voices sing along with us from the pews.”

After their debut, clips of them covering Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” went viral, creating a buzz from fans asking them to release a cover of the song. They heard our cries and gifted us with not only a live version of the song from The Ryman but also a studio cut of the classic tune.

The song’s live version truly left me speechless and remains one of my favorite covers released of “Landslide” to date. The simplicity of Cleto Cordero standing center stage with his acoustic guitar and hearing the audience singing the words back to him gives you chills. It’s incredible.

Given the high-quality audio of the performance available, I wondered if we would one day get a live album or access to the live performance. Sure enough, that feeling was right. Flatland Cavalry gifted fans with the full Ryman set on YouTube.

Talk about a Christmas gift I never knew I needed.

Everything about this performance is near perfection, from the band’s cohesiveness, vocals, and stage presence. Their humility and gratitude for the opportunity to headline this historic stage is palpable through the screen and further solidify why they, the Humble Folks, love this Texas band so much.

This is well worth the watch from start to finish during this lull between Christmas and New Year’s.
