Country music star Cody Johnson using his platform to give back to charity.
The “Nothin’ On You” singer is undoubtedly one of the most talented singer-songwriters in all of modern country music. CoJo has been nominated for countless awards in country music, and he’s quickly garnered a massive following of dedicated fans.
Though he’s had tremendous success, Johnson has never let the fame get to his head. He’s been open about how he attempts to “flip a switch” between his work life and his home life, and the 37-year-old also tries to give back in every way that he can.
Whether it be visiting with a pediatric cancer patient, or raising money for charity, Cody Johnson is always doing his best to be charitable. That was on full display back in early December when the Texas native hosted his 2nd Annual Cody Johnson Charity Golf Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Conveniently held during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Sin City, Johnson and all of his tournament participants joined together at the event that was presented by Wrangler and Resistol, and organized by the latter’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation. The country music star and the 28 teams that participated in the tournament raised just shy of $298,000 for various charities.
That money – which was raised through the one day golf outing as well as an auction – went to help fund Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation, Wrangler’s Bucking Cancer Initiative, and the Different Day Foundation. During a speech at the event, Cody Johnson shared that his 2nd Annual event was incredibly important to him:
“For me, when you get an opportunity like this to give back, it’s a big deal. When you have a driving force, like these brands behind you, it’s hard not to step up and make a difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone involved.”
The Different Day Foundation was actually founded by Cody Johnson and his wife, Brandi. Their organization aims to empower and support women that have formerly been involved in prostitution and other forms of exploitation. Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation gifts cowboy hats to children nationwide that are battling cancer and other diseases. Wrangler’s Bucking Cancer program provides assistance to families battling pediatric cancer.
Needless to say, Cody Johnson’s charitable work is commendable, and his annual golf tournament that sets out to bring together people through golf, Western lifestyle and philanthropy has become a staple in the country music world – as has his music. CoJo is now set to head out on his 2025 Leather Deluxe Tour, which will run through the spring and late into the summer.
Even with all of the plates that Johnson has spinning, he’s passionate and adamant about giving back to the less fortunate. The country music artist will obviously always set aside time for his annual golf tournament, but that doesn’t mean that his charitable efforts are limited to just that one time a year. He and his wife are always looking to help through philanthropy, all while Johnson also juggles being a family man and one of the brightest starts in all of country music.
