Zach Bryan & Shane Gillis Perform Surprise Pop-Up Show At A Bar In New Orleans Ahead Of The Super Bowl

Music

You knew Zach Bryan would be in town to watch his Birds play in the Super Bowl.

The “Something In The Orange” singer is from Oklahoma, but Zach has also lived in Philly and is a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. And he’s even promised to drop a new song, “Dear Miss,” if the Eagles win the Super Bowl this weekend.

Zach recently made the same promise ahead of the NFC Championship Game, and true to his word, dropped his new song “Blue Jean Baby” after the Eagles punched their ticket to New Orleans to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Obviously Zach is in the Big Easy for the game, and earlier this week he hinted that he might do a pop-up show ahead of the Super Bowl:

Zach shared the post along with a caption saying he’ll be in New Orleans for the game, and that he and comedian Shane Gillis might “do a pop up” somewhere this weekend too… so if your in town for the game, keep your head on a swivel:

“IF THE BIRDS WIN THE BOWL ‘DEAR MISS’ IS OUT THE NEXT DAY SEE YALL IN NOLA SHANE GILLIS N ME MIGHT DO A POP UP N GET ROWDY SOMEWHERE LOVE U GUYS.”

And that’s just what they did.

Gillis, who’s from Pennsylvania himself and like Zach is also an Eagles fan, introduced the country singer ahead of the surprise show Saturday night at Saturn Bar in the Bywater area of New Orleans, just a few blocks from the French Quarter.

Photos from the bar show a massive crowd waiting to get in:

And Saturn’s not a huge bar, so those who were lucky enough to get in were treated to an intimate performance that’s a far cry from the massive stadiums Zach is performing these days – and he was also joined by some local musicians on trumpet and saxophone, in true New Orleans fashion.

No doubt a cool show for the fans who were lucky enough to get in.

For those who missed out though, there aren’t going to be many chances to see Zach live this year. He announced last year that he would be taking a break from touring to get his masters degree in Paris, and right now he only has five shows on the books in the United States in 2025, including Stagecoach Festival, three nights at MetLife Stadium with Kings of Leon and a show at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California.

And in a recent Instagram post, he shared more about his decision to quit touring – at least for now:

I wanted to quit long tours because I want to feel like a human again. I’m getting back slowly and surely.  I want to travel the country coast to coast and the world ocean to ocean. I want to take advantage of the songs that are to come.

I have everyone who has stuck around to thank for it. No idea why I’m writing any of this, but I just wanted to show gratitude to all of my friends and everyone that has stuck around. I love you immensely and laughter is immeasurable. – From the back of an RV with my dog, my cat and with heaven on top. Go Birds. With love from the road.”

Sounds like you might have to catch a pop-up show if you want to see Zach in 2025.
