“Full Of Virtue-Signaling” – Sheryl Crow Mocked For Selling Her Tesla To Protest Elon Musk & Donating The Money To NPR

Really showed him…

Elon Musk has become quite the controversial figure lately as he plays a prominent role in the second administration of President Donald Trump.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, owner of Twitter/X, and one of the richest men on earth, is heading up Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, which is tasked with reducing government spending, eliminating waste, and shrinking the size of government. Of course that’s upset a lot of federal employees and other people who like government spending (because it makes them feel like they’re actually doing something good, when in reality all they’re doing is spending someone else’s money to advance their own causes). But that’s beside the point…

Democrats are particularly outraged by the decision from the administration to shut down USAID. The United States Agency for International Development, which had a budget of over $40 billion and was tasked with administering foreign aid all around the world, became a top target for Musk and DOGE after some of their wasteful spending was identified, like $20 million to create an Iraqi Sesame Street and $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala.

Ridiculous, right?

Anyway, the media and Democrats (same thing, right?) have been attacking Musk nonstop since his team got started. And apparently Sheryl Crow is one of those who isn’t happy with Elon and his cuts to the government.

The singer posted a video yesterday to Instagram announcing that she had sold her Tesla in protest, and would be donating the money she received from the sale to NPR, which has been a target of Trump and DOGE:

“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with.

There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.

Money donated to NPR, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”

That’ll show him.

Of course by doing that, Crow is really just proving that NPR doesn’t need government funding. If people support it and want NPR so much, why don’t they all just donate their money and not force taxpayers to pay for it?

And selling her Tesla obviously doesn’t really hurt Elon. It’s just a performative virtue-signaling stunt that she filmed for her followers so she could show them what a good person she is. Nothing like a millionaire telling people who are struggling that they need to keep sending their tax money to other countries. So stunning and brave.

In the comments on her post, many called out Crow for her hypocrisy:

“You loved Elon when he donated to Dems. Now that he’s uncovering fraud and waste on a grand scale that is mind-boggling, you’re all full of virtue signaling. Oh, we’re so impressed.”

“LOL NPR is the biggest lefty/liberal propaganda machine on the air. That’s why it’s under attack, as it should be.”

“So you support wasteful government spending, money that could’ve gone to support our veterans. Got it”

“I so love it when wealthy liberals that tell the struggling rest of us how morally justified it is that the government must continue to waste our tax money.”

“Ahhh another liberal meltdown, love to see it”

“What an interesting stance. You are for government corruption and waste?”

And over on Twitter, many pointed out that one of Crow’s biggest hits came from her duet “Picture” with Kid Rock, himself a massive Trump supporter:

On the other hand, Brad Paisley’s wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley commented on the post with three crowns, apparently supporting Crow’s publicity stunt.

Hey, as long as she feels like she’s making a difference – whether she actually is or not.
