What’s wrong with a little collaboration between country music superstar Morgan Wallen and pop sensation Tate McRae?
Apparently a lot of things, if you were to ask the social media world. The news is still fresh – and was just recently confirmed – that McRae and Wallen are joining together for a song on Morgan’s forthcoming I’m The Problem album. We now know for sure that the country star appears to be including a collaboration with the popular female artist in his next project.
At first, it was still considered speculative after a fan directed this question about it towards Morgan Wallen on X:
“Morgan Wallen, please, please, PLEASE confirm ‘What I Want’ is a duet. You haven’t yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case.🙏”

The day after that question was sent out, Morgan Wallen responded to fan with a short and simple response:
“Indeed sir.”

When Wallen confirmed the female collaboration, fans immediately started guessing that the likes of Megan Moroney or Ella Langley could be joining him on “What I Want,” but it looks like he opted to go with someone outside the country music genre for the collab – after confirming that no one correctly guessed the right artist so far.
It was yesterday afternoon when pop star Tate McRae took to her Instagram story and seemingly put all of the guessing to rest. The photo she posted showed a close up of a Tennessee Volunteers jersey, fitted with a “MW” logo on the collar, and the letter-number combo “T8” in an obvious reference to her name:
That teaser from Tate McRae virtually confirmed the news, and just a little bit ago, Wallen confirmed that the pop star will be his first ever female feature. That’s seems like something to get excited about, right? Right?
Though the response from country music fans has been okay (many are asking “Who is Tate McRae?”), the overwhelming reaction to the news from Tate McRae fans is… how could she do this? McRae faithful are now turning on the “You Broke Me First” singer for collaborating with Morgan Wallen, calling her “MAGA” and “Tate McRae-cist.” You’ve got to admit… as out of pocket as that last one is, it’s a rather clever insult.
Per usual, the social media commentary on the collaboration has been ugly to say the least:

My thing with tate McRae (and the R&B girlies) is that as soon as they start popping off they collab with controversial/abusive men. What about Tate’s audience says Morgan wallen !?! pic.twitter.com/WqbSQniIMW
