Ok, I’m going to have to make it out to Vegas for this one at some point.
The Las Vegas Sphere was already a bucket list venue after seeing the incredible visuals it’s delivered since opening in 2023. The state-of-the-art, $2.3 billion venue features the world’s largest LED screen, 167,000 individual speakers that can be dialed in to each section, and fully immersive visual capabilities that deliver over 171 million pixels across a 160,000 square foot screen wrapping up, over and around the audience, plus 4D technologies including haptic seats.
It also features a 16K x 16K resolution wraparound screen, the world’s highest-resolution LED display, that delivers an immersive audio and visual experience unlike any other venue in the world.
The Sphere opened with a residency from U2, and has since hosted Dead & Company and The Eagles for extended runs in Vegas.
I’ve been wanting to get to a show at the Sphere for a while now, because it looks insane. But I’m not really into U2 or Dead & Co. The Eagles would have been cool, but at this point they just really aren’t a big enough draw to get me to book a trip to Vegas.
But after seeing the scenes from Kenny Chesney‘s opening night at the Sphere, I think this might be the one that gets me to Sin City.
Earlier this year, Kenny announced a 15-show residency at the mind-blowing venue, the first country artist to play the Sphere, saying that he was excited for the opportunity to bring a new experience to fans:
“I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music. Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives.
When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more. When we started talking about all of the possibilities playing Sphere offered, I was all in.
Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound and being together. To me, this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait.”
And after seeing the videos from opening night, it looks like a can’t-miss show for country fans.
Kenny kicked off the show with “Beer In Mexico.”
@vegas I’ll just sit right here and enjoy Kenny Chesney at Sphere.
And throughout the evening, he transported fans everywhere from Neyland Stadium, home to his Tennessee Volunteers, to the beaches of No Shoes Nation:
@nikkikennedy1 the most unreal night at the sphere!!!!🤠 @Kenny Chesney @Sphere @noshoesradio #kennychesneyconcert #kennychesneysphere #kennychesneylasvegas #lasvegas #spherelasvegas
@vegas @Kenny Chesney takes the Sphere crowd to a University of Tennessee game.
Wild.
If you’ve seen Kenny before, you know that his shows are always a party. And he has so many hits that you may have forgotten about, songs like “Somewhere With You” and “Young” and “American Kids.”
Of course if you’re looking for his more sentimental songs like “The Good Stuff” or “There Goes My Life” it doesn’t look like those made the setlist for the show at the Sphere, which makes sense because it’s not really the venue for those songs. The Sphere is all about immersive visuals and a high-energy show that can transport you anywhere on earth – and beyond.
And for opening night, it looks like that’s exactly what Kenny did.
The residency runs through June 21, so if you want to plan your trip to Vegas you’ve got a month to get out to see it. Who knows when we’ll get another country music residency at the Sphere, so no reason to miss this one.
