Such a special moment.
Over the weekend, Lainey Wilson rolled into Wildwood, New Jersey to headline Barefoot Country Music Fest, where she spotted a special young women in the crowd near the front of the stage that had a sign that read:
“I leave for the U.S. Army next month.”
The girl, Ciarra, is officially leaving for Army training next month, and Lainey took a minute out of the show to get a photo with her, first trying to do it while Ciarra stood at the bottom of the stage, which was hard to do, so she got a boost from the security guard and Lainey pulled her up onstage.
She introduced Ciarra to the crowd, and thanked her for her service, saying how much it means to her to have people like Ciarra who are willing to serve and give their all for this country so she can enjoy her freedoms and make and play country music for a living:
“This is Ciarra. Y’all give it up for Ciarra. So you are leaving next month for the Army? That’s right, y’all. Thank you so much for your service. Because of people like you, I get to do what I do, and that just means the world to me.”
Lainey helped Ciarra back off of the stage, this timing finding the stairs for her, and I think it’s so cool that Lainey spotted her and honored her in this way, because Ciarra is clearly a special young lady who is doing an incredible thing for her country, which deserves to be recognized.
We’re all wishing her well on this scary, yet very brave, journey, and shoutout to Lainey for making this happen. I’m sure it’s something Ciarra will never forget and cherish forever:
