LAUSD rolls out intership program for students – NBC Los Angeles

California

A new program that provides high school students with hands-on career experience through summer internships was introduced by Los Angeles Unified School District officials on Tuesday.

Through a partnership with the Broad Foundation, LAUSD introduced the Earn & Learn internship program, an initiative that connects students to well-paying jobs. Participating sectors of work include technology, healthcare and aviation.

In a press conference held Tuesday, district officials said students will be able to get firsthand experience in these fields to translate that into career opportunities.

“The program demonstrates how the nation’s second-largest school district is expanding access to workforce development for a new generation,” a statement by the district read.

The program is free to enroll.
