Original Power Cast: Where Are They Now?

Original Power Cast: Where Are They Now?

Television

The Power Universe continues to thrive eleven years after the original Power debuted in the summer of 2014.

It’s hard to imagine that Starz foresaw what a phenomenon the series would be, as it quickly became the cable network’s biggest show and spawned several spinoffs that are still airing to this day.

A show about a drug dealer trying to go legit (sort of) became a sensation, and at one point, it was one of the most talked-about shows on social media.

Fans loved to come together to rant and rave about Ghost, Tommy, Kanan, Angela, and Tasha as they made dumb moves in the name of family or something else ridiculous, and we ate it up every single time.

When the show ended after six seasons, fans were rightfully upset, but jumping right into Power Book II: Ghost helped ease some of the pain, as Tariq St. Patrick’s story outside of the specter of his father was told with excellent results.

While Michael Rainey as Tariq and Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick leaped over to the spinoff, none of the other principal actors did. And you may be wondering what they’re up to now.

Well, you came to the right place, as we’re about to let you know what the core Power cast has been up to since the crime drama closed up shop for good!

Omari Hardwick – James “Ghost” St. Patrick

(Jan Thijs/Paramount+)

Ghost was the protagonist of the original series, a New York City drug dealer who opened a nightclub, Truth, and slowly found his interests changing after his first love, Angela Valdes, returned to his life.

Ghost was a complicated antihero character who often found himself at odds with his best friend and business partner, Tommy, and his wife, Tasha, as he tried to get out of the game and go legit, mainly so he could start a life with Angela, a prosecutor who was after their whole operation.

The ups and downs of Ghost’s life were the primary conflicts throughout all six seasons, as he struggled to find a proper balance in his life and fully extricate himself from the game.

After many brushes with death and severe fallouts with many of the people in his life, Ghost was killed by his own son Tariq, right as he was ascending politically and looking to turn over a new leaf for the millionth time.

Omari Hardwick received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of the tortured Ghost. Following Power, he starred in the post-apocalyptic zombie heist movie Army of the Dead, which was a thrilling ride, and a spiritual successor to the hit film Dawn of the Dead.

He was most recently seen in Star Trek: Section 31 alongside Michelle Yeoh, a science fiction television film that aired on Paramount+. Hardwick was second-billed for the Star Trek film, which struggled a bit to find an audience who struggled with the transition from television to film.

Hardwick is currently filming The Greatest, an upcoming television biopic about Muhammad Ali, starring as the famous boxer’s father, Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr. While there have been a few portrayals of Ali over time, this series will take time to cover his life through an episodic format, including the relationship between father and son.

It’s the perfect role for Hardwick, who has a commanding screen presence and range.

Lela Loren – Angela Valdes

(Courtesy of Netflix)

When federal prosecutor Angela Valdes reunited with her first love, James St. Patrick, she had no idea she was falling back in love with an elusive drug dealer, Ghost.

And much of the six seasons circled around their forbidden romance, especially in the aftermath of Angela finding out about her beau’s secret job.

It was often a running joke in the fandom that Angela wasn’t very good at her job, as many of her cases fell apart, and she was outwitted by Ghost, Tommy, and Tasha several times throughout the show.

Her love for Ghost was her ultimate undoing, as the two of them were unable to let the love between them flame out for good, and Angela was killed during Power Season 5 at the hands of Tommy.

While Loren popped up in the finale season as Angela in hallucination scenes opposite Ghost, after Power, Loren joined the Netflix series Altered Carbon, which revolved around a world where consciousness can be transferred to different bodies.

Loren joined the series in Season 2, which was a bit of a reboot from the first season. But unfortunately, the series was cancelled after its second effort.

Loren was also a recurring cast member in the third season of the Starz series America Gods, which is sorely missed here at TV Fanatic. And we’re hopeful we’ll see Loren in something else soon, perhaps another sci-fi epic!

Naturi Naughton – Tasha St. Patrick

(Courtesy of Starz)

Tasha was the long-suffering wife of Ghost, and while she rarely ever got her flowers from her husband, it was often stated that Ghost and Tommy would have never reached the heights they did without her help.

It was Tasha and Ghost together that crafted the plan to get Kanan out of the way, a move that helped Ghost ascend in the game.

As adults and with a family together, Tasha helped launder the drug money, would step in with an alibi if needed, and did everything she could to protect Ghost, the business, and their family.

In the early seasons, Tasha stayed out of the crime part mostly.

Still, in later seasons, she killed her best friend LaKeisha when she thought she was speaking to the FBI, and she ultimately lost everything when she was arrested at the end of the series for a crime she didn’t commit.

After Power, Naughton made the jump over to Power Book II: Ghost, snagging a regular role in the first season and then recurring the rest of its run.

Tasha found herself in prison, but she was eventually released, and the times we saw her throughout the rest of the series, she was in protective custody.

She also starred in the critically acclaimed season of ABC drama Queens in 2021, which saw her teaming up with Eve, Brandy, and Nadine Velazquez as a reunited musical group.

And on the film side, her most recent role was in the Lifetime movie Abducted: A Black Girl Missing.

Joseph Sikora – Tommy Egan

Tommy Egan was the breakout character from Power.

Tommy and Ghost grew up together, overcoming tough childhoods to ascend to the highest of heights as major drug dealers in the New York game.

Throughout the series, Tommy and Ghost often butted heads, as Tommy’s hotheaded nature didn’t always align with Ghost’s, nor did he approve of Ghost’s relationship with Angela.

Tommy was also unlucky in love and suffered numerous losses throughout the series, ultimately leaving New York after Ghost’s death to start anew in Chicago.

Sikora has led Power Book IV: Force since 2022 and has also appeared as Tommy on Power Book II: Ghost. In Power Force, Tommy’s journey has seen him fight for control of Chicago’s drug game, fall in love, and find long-lost family as well.

Outside of the role of Tommy Egan, Sikora had a recurring role on the award-winning Ozark.

He will also be seen in the next season of Reasonable Doubt, where he’ll be right in the thick of the action as a co-worker of Jax’s who is looking to make partner at her firm.

Andy Bean – Gregory “Greg” Knox

(Starz/Screenshot)

Greg was an FBI agent who was Angela’s romantic interest during Power Season 1.

But as she reconnected with Ghost, the two lovers eventually cut ties and wound up being closer to enemies than friends by the time Greg was murdered.

Greg knew that Ghost and Tommy were the big players in the drug world.

Much of his storyline towards the end of his run revolved around tailing Angela to the point he was suspended for stalking her and putting himself in terrible positions.

Having been outsmarted by Ghost and Angela, he tried HARD to find evidence against them, but Mike Sandoval thwarted him during Power Season 3, as Sandoval was revealed to be the mole within the FBI.

Post Power, Bean starred in the massive hit movie IT Chapter Two, where he was one of the adult losers of the famed Losers Club, Stanley Uris.

Stanley’s character meets a sad end early in the film, but is paramount to the narrative that unfolds as his fellow friends look to defeat the dreaded Pennywise.

He also starred in films Malignant and King Richard, as well as television series like Swamp Thing, which saw him step into the role of the iconic Alec Holland, whose memories survive inside the famed Swamp Thing, and guest spots on Quantum Leap and Watson.

Bean is a talented actor, and hopefully we’ll see him in something else soon.

Adam Huss – Joshua “Josh” Kantos

(Starz/Screenshot)

Josh was the manager of Truth, but outside of occasionally being a nuisance to Ghost, they never quite knew how to integrate his character into the action.

At one point, he teamed up with Simon Stern to steal Truth from Ghost and attempted to blackmail Ghost, although he ultimately failed.

Josh was gone by the end of Power Season 3, as the story had truly evolved outside of pesky issues at Truth.

If you’re a soap opera enthusiast, then you’ll recognize Huss from his role as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital, which he played from 2021-2024.

(ABC/Screenshot)

While the role has been played by a few men over the years, soap fans came to appreciate the emotional depth Huss brought to such a popular and complex character.

Huss has also had a run of TV movies, most recently starring in the Lifetime movie Couples Retreat Murder, which revolves around a couple on a retreat who get embroiled in a murder mystery.

We wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Huss back in Port Charles, or any other of the soap operas world soon.

Luis Antonio Ramos – Carlos Ruiz

(Courtesy of Starz)

Carlos Ruiz was the leader of the Soldado Nation, which was a Puerto Rican gang that operated within Ghost’s distribution zone.

Ruiz had a complicated relationship with Ghost and Tommy, with him ultimately betraying Ghost and becoming an informant for Greg at one point.

However, that didn’t last long, as Tommy killed Ruiz to one-up Ghost, who had his own plans for Ruiz that didn’t align with Tommy’s.

Ramos has kept a low profile since Power.

Still, he has had some notable television roles, including a ten-episode stint on Blue Bloods and guest-starring appearances on Elementary and The Equalizer.

Ramos is a great actor, and it’d be nice to see him in another drama where he gets to show off his skills.

Sinqua Walls – Shawn Stark

(Courtesy of Netflix)

Kanan Stark’s son began the series as Ghost’s driver, and you could tell from the start that he wasn’t quite built for the world that his father had grown up in.

Ghost did his best to help mold him and introduce him to things, but he struggled. When Kanan returned to the city, the two often clashed, though all Shawn wanted was to be accepted by his father.

In one of the series more shocking twists, Kanan kills Shawn after tasking him with killing Ghost, something he was unable to do.

After Shawn was killed off Power, Walls went on to star in a few different series and found further success on The Breaks, a VH1 series that lasted one season.

(BET/Screenshot)

He also stepped into the role of Don Cornelius, the creator and host of Soul Train, on BET’s American Soul.

He’s also had starring roles in films such as Alice, the box-office hit The Blackening, the White Men Can’t Jump remake with Jack Harlow, and the Netflix thriller Carry-On.

Walls has been steadily building his career over the years with a variety of different roles, and we look forward to seeing him continue to thrive on-screen.

Lucy Walters – Holly Weaver

(Courtesy of Starz)

Holly was a waitress at Truth who became Tommy’s live-in girlfriend and a source of trouble for Ghost and Tasha.

She eventually finds out who Tommy really is, as well as Ghost’s identity, and is shot during Power Season 1 in retaliation against Tommy, though she ultimately survives.

From there, the connection between her and Tommy deepens, though it hits a snag when the FEDS picks her up and is the first person to tell Angela that James St. Patrick is Ghost.

Her relationship with Tommy deteriorates when she tells Tommy that she wants to rat out Ghost, though the two reconcile.

However, their reunion is somewhat short-lived, as Holly engineers another move against Ghost, and Tommy kills her.

(Saban Films/Screenshot)

Walter has remained busy over the years since Power ended, guest-starring in series such as FBI: Most Wanted, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, The Blacklist, and The Rookie.

She was also in the movie House of Darkness with Kate Bosworth and Justin Long.

She also reprised the role of Lucy during a Tommy hallucination during Power Book IV: Force Season 2 Episode 6.

And many fans presume she may appear in the final season of the series in another dreamlike sequence, considering the role she played in Tommy’s life.
