Pedestrian killed after being struck by Orange County sheriff’s vehicle – NBC Los Angeles

A man died Wednesday night after being struck by an Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) patrol vehicle, authorities said.

The crash was reported sometime after 10 p.m. in the City of Orange.

The OCSD vehicle was traveling near East Chapman and James Street when it struck a pedestrian, according to Sergeant Gerard McCann. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details leading up to the crash were not immediately available. It’s unclear if the deputy was in a pursuit at the time of the crash.

The sheriff’s deputy was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
