“American Idol” will move production to Georgia in a major shakeup after more than two decades in Southern California.
Production and distribution company Fremantle confirmed the move in a statement to NBCLA. More details about the relocation plan for the upcoming 25th season were not immediately available.
Deadline reported that the company, which produces the show with 19 Entertainment, is in talks with a studio complex in the Atlanta area. Georgia offers a 20% Film Tax Credit and an additional 10% “uplift” credit for providing promotional value to the state.
Auditions for the new season started last month and continue through the end of September. Season 25 will premiere next year.
