An arrest was made more than a month after a hit-and-run crash that killed a 16-year-old boy and injured his younger sister in South Los Angeles, police said Wednesday.

Raygine Glentasia Evans was found and arrested in the city of Los Angeles around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday after being identified as the suspect, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say on Sept. 22, the driver of a blue 2025 Nissan Sentra was going eastbound on 60 Street near 10th Avenue at high speed when the two pedestrians were hit just after 9:30 p.m.

Hernan Martinez died at the scene, and his younger sister is now being treated at a hospital. Amber Frias reports for the NBC4 News at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026.

The boy, identified as Hernan Martinez, died at the scene. His 14-year-old sister was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, the LAPD said.

Officials previously said the siblings and their mother were walking in an unmarked crosswalk but that a stop sign was at the location.

According to police, the driver and passenger ran away from the scene.

“A girl jumped out the driver’s seat, a guy jumped out the passenger seat, and they took off running,” a witness said at the time.

More details were expected to be released on Thursday.
