K.T. Oslin’s “Come Next Monday” Music Video Was a Cinematic Masterpiece

Music

They don’t make music videos like this anymore.

Unfortunately, we lost another member of the country music community yesterday when K.T. Oslin passed away at 78. Oslin was best known for her hit single “80’s Ladies,” but her video for her 1990 hit “Come Next Monday” is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece.

It’s one of the first music videos I can ever remember watching, back when CMT actually played country music videos. It features K.T. as the “Bride of Frankenstein” in some bizarre laboratory love story, while simultaneously narrating the music video as herself as if the video never got to be made.

Nowadays, artists generally just mail it in with music videos. They’re usually just some shots of the singer on stage, or at a bar, or singing in a field somewhere. But back in the 90’s, we got some absolutely incredible music videos, and none better than K.T. Oslin’s performance in her video for “Come Next Monday.”
