Dolly Parton & Willie Nelson Get In The Holiday Spirit With “Pretty Paper” Duet

Music

Does it get more iconic than Willie and Dolly?

Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton teamed up to re-record his Christmas classic, “Pretty Paper,” for Dolly’s 2020 album, A Holly Dolly Christmas. Willie originally released “Pretty Paper” in 1979 on his first Christmas album of the same name.

When it came to recording her new Christmas album, Dolly revealed in a behind the scenes clip that she’s always loved Willie’s music, but this song in particular. If she was gonna do a Christmas record, there was no way she was gonna do it without Willie.

“I loved the song the first time I heard it, and I thought that if I ever do another Christmas album I wanna do “Pretty Paper.”

And as to how the song turned out?

“I’m as proud of that as anything I have on the whole Christmas album.”

And of course, Willie’s version from Austin City Limits, way back in 1993.
