Kick Off Christmas Eve With Jamey Johnson’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”

Music

When thinking of Country Christmas songs, so many jump to Willie Nelson’s “Frosty The Snowman,” Faith Hill’s “Where Are You Christmas,” etc…

And those well-known songs are great tunes, but sometimes it’s fun to find the unexpected covers that end up really blowing you away.

Well, I found the perfect example of that with Jamey Johnson performing “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” live in 2017:

For my money, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” is one of the most underrated Christmas songs, and Jamey with his distinct voice does a beautiful rendition. This performance comes from a St. Jude event, which if you know Jamey should come as no surprise.

He’s been performing at Farm Aid for years and he’s a former Marine, so giving back to the community is something fairly on-brand for Johnson.

If you’ve ever seen him perform live he tends to throw a ton of covers in his sets. Another one of my personal favorites is ‘This Land Is Your Land.”

Jamey’s last studio album came in 2012, if it’s not too much can we PLEASE get some new music, Mr. Johnson?

But for now, we’ll just have to enjoy his badass covers.

Willie Nelson’s “Pretty Paper.”
