Coronavirus tracker: California reported more cases in two days than China’s total reported cases

Tuesday’s end-of-day totals reported by California public heath websites added 36,012 new cases of the coronavirus in the state, bringing the total number of people who have been infected to 2,230,094.

California two-day total of 101,729 new cases is more than China’s reported 95,851 total cases.

There were also 427 new deaths reported in California, bringing the total number of people who have died in the state to 24,961.

An additional 193 patients were admitted into California hospitals, making for 21,433 hospitalizations statewide.

While ages 18 to 49 account for the majority of cases (59%), those ages 65 and older account for the majority of deaths (74%).

A majority of cases (56%) and deaths (47%) have occurred among Latinos.
