The Walking Dead: Negan Prepares Lucille for Her Comeback in New Trailer

Books

The Walking Dead has confirmed that Negan’s wife Lucille will be making her debut soon. In the upcoming six episodes that make up “season 10C”, the sixth episode will feature Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s real life wife, actress Hilarie Burton, portraying Negan’s long lost spouse.

While getting to see Lucille is nice, it also begs the question: what about the other Lucille? Negan’s iconic choice of weapon is a simple wooden baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire that he named after his wife. The barbed-bat helped complete the physically imposing persona that eventually installed him as a ruthless leader of The Saviors.

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen Lucille “in the flesh” for awhile now. At least not the original version of it. Thanks to a new clip from AMC, however, it seems that Lucille is not lost for good just yet. Check out the exclusive trailer from The Walking Dead season 10c below, which features plenty of new sneak peaks at the upcoming six episodes.

In that action-packed 30 seconds, we are entreated to a brief moment in which Negan rolls barbed wire around the baseball bat we’ve come to know as Lucille…or at least we think it is.

There are three potential options for what could be happening here. The most likely of which is that this clip (probably from episode 6, “Here’s Negan”) will flash back to the moment that Negan created Lucille. The other possibilities are that Negan in the present has recovered Lucille out in the wild and given her a “re-barbing.” Or perhaps Negan elected to just go ahead and create yet another Lucille. In the comics, Negan broke Lucille while swinging the bat onto Beta’s massive body. Thankfully, she was spared that fate in the season 10 finale.

Regardless of what’s going on here, it’s nice to see The Walking Dead’s best big bad reunited with his beat stick. We see him again at trailer’s end joyfully pounding Lucille into the dirt. If nothing else, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is happy and that’s always a good thing.

Here are the details on The Walking Dead season 10’s extra six episodes.

EPISODE 1017 – “Home Sweet Home”
Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has returned with a story she is not ready to share, even when her past catches up to her. Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) safety is at stake again. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie fight an unseen and unknown threat.

EPISODE 1018 – “Find Me”
An adventure for Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride) turns sideways when they come across an old cabin. It takes Daryl back to the years when he left the group after Rick disappeared as he relives a time that only the apocalypse could manifest.

EPISODE 1019 – “One More”
Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) search for food and supplies to bring back to Alexandria. Small tragedies lead to bigger tragedies as faith is broken and optimism is fragmented when they are put to the ultimate test.

EPISODE 1020 – “Splinter”
Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), and Princess (Paola Lázaro) are captured and separated. Princess struggles with memories of her traumatic past and tries to escape one way or another with the help of Ezekiel.

EPISODE 1021 – “Diverged”
Daryl and Carol come to a fork in the road and head their separate ways. Each going into their own type of survival mode, the easiest of challenges become much harder. Will their individual journeys be the tipping point needed to mend their friendship or is the distance between them permanent?

EPISODE 1022 – “Here’s Negan”
Carol takes Negan on a journey, hoping to minimize the increasing tension. Negan reflects on the events that led him to this point and comes to a conclusion about his future.

The new trailer appears to feature bits from each episode with Gabriel, Aaron, Princess, Eugene, Ezekiel, Maggie, Daryl, Carol, and even the wee baby Hershel all making appearances.

The Walking Dead season 10C will premiere on the AMC+ streaming service one week early on Feb. 21. The season will make its TV debut on AMC on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. ET. The next five episodes will air on Sundays at the same time while arriving to AMC+ three days earlier on Thursdays.
