How The Hell Was Chris Stapleton’s “What Are You Listening To” Not A #1 Song?

Music

Chris Stapleton’s acoustic performance of “What Are You Listening To” might be the best he’s ever sounded.

Let me know if you’ve heard this before: “Chris Stapleton kills, crushes, blows away… whatever phrase you like, the crowd with acoustic performance of…. *insert song*”

The guy literally never misses.

But there’s just something extra special about his performance of “What Are You Listening To,” recorded back in 2013 at XTU Studio, Philly’s Country Station.

I mean just listen to that bridge… the emotion, talent, heart, beard, hair… all in one absolute moment of glory.

It’s a video I go back to all the time, happy or sad, day or night, literally anytime, anywhere. It never fails to put a smile on my face, and I’m sure it’ll make you smile too. After all, it has 40 MILLION views.

And here’s the kicker, it was Chris’ debut single in 2013. It barely cracked the top 50 on the charts before fizzling out. Two years later, after his performance with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 CMA Awards, that’s when he became a household name.

Oh, and Luke Combs’ version ain’t half bad either.
