Throwback To Willie Nelson Singing “Whiskey River” At Austin City Limits In 1981

Music

Here’s a little Throwback Thursday for ya.

Man, every bone in my body wants to see Willie Nelson sing “Whiskey River” on stage one day. And with live music coming back (especially in Texas), it just might be possible.

But here, we see Shotgun Willie all the way back in 1981, singing one of his most iconic songs, on one of the most famous shows in the state of Texas, Austin City Limits.

Full band, hair in braids, a badass beret like he’s going to paint a picture of the Eiffel Tower, probably stoned off his arse, and going HARD on ol’ Trigger, his acoustic guitar…. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Also, the signature build up at the beginning of this song is on a whole other level…. I feel like I’m ready to get shot out of a cannon.
