Chayce Beckham has been representing country music well on American Idol this year.
We’ve seen him perform Tyler Childers’ “Hard Times,” as well as Chris Stapleton’s “You Should Probably Leave.” Last week, he delivered an impressive rendition of Zac Brown’s “Colder Weather” and tonight, it was back to Chris.
For his finale performance, Chayce, performed The Beatles’ hit “Blackbird,” Ed Sheeran’s “Afterglow,” and Chris Stapleton’s “Fire Away.”
According to Los Angeles Daily News, Chris Stapleton is a songwriting idol of Beckham’s:
“Chris Stapleton is one of the greatest songwriters of all time in my opinion, for country music, for all music.
I feel like I could have done the whole season and just done Chris Stapleton songs. That’s how much I love his music.”
But then came the duets.
He also joined Luke Combs for a performance of “Forever After All.”
The 24 year old California native was later crowned the winner of this season of American Idol.
The champ closed out the show with a performance of his original new single, “23.”
