Government offices, courts, libraries and schools — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — are normally closed for Memorial Day.

Here is a sampling of other services that are closed, have altered service or are on a regular schedule on Memorial Day, May 31.

Banks: Closed, as are New York Stock Exchange markets.

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver mail or packages and post offices are closed (about.usps.com/newsroom/events; www.usps.com.

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a holiday schedule (for example, the Metro B Line: bit.ly/3vcnntt; www.metro.net). Metrolink trains do not operate on the Ventura County Line (metrolinktrains.com/schedules/memorial-day/) The Antelope Valley line runs on a Sunday service schedule. www.metrolinktrains.com
