Two country music legends on one stage.
Earlier this week, CBS aired the special Kenny Rogers: All In for the Gambler, featuring a performance from Kenny himself with the great Dolly Parton, as well individual performances by Reba, Lionel Richie, Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town and more.
It was originally filmed at a sold out show on October 25th, 2017, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, right before Kenny retired. He passed away a few years later at the age of 81 in March of last year due to natural causes.
Dolly and Kenny opened the show with a poignant delivery of “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” and Dolly even serenaded her longtime friend with a beautiful performance of “I Will Always Love You”.
Though Kenny is no longer with us, his music lives on as a timeless and important piece country music history.
Check out their precious and adorable last live performance of their absolutely iconic 1983 #1 hit “Islands in the Stream”. It does not get any better than these two icons:
Oh, and Chris Stapleton sang “The Gambler”… need I say any more than that?
