Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 16,510 new cases and 182 more hospitalizations, Dec. 29

Los Angeles County public health officials reported a staggering 16,510 new cases of the coronavirus since Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,649,376, as of Wednesday, Dec. 29. The total number of cases represents 16.4% of Los Angeles County’s population.

Officials reported 25 more deaths linked to the coronavirus since Tuesday, for a total of 27,601 deaths since tracking began. The total number of deaths represents 0.27% of Los Angeles County’s population.

There were 182 new hospitalizations reported since Tuesday, bringing the total count of people hospitalized with coronavirus to 1,251.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, 70% of Los Angeles County is fully vaccinated and more than 16,855,427 vaccine doses have been administered as of Dec. 28.
