Well-involved fire burns Sylmar home

California

SYLMAR — No injuries were reported Monday morning from a well-involved Sylmar house fire.

The fire was reported at 3:19 a.m. on the 13900 block of Almetz Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.

First-arriving firefighters reported the single-story house was well-involved with flames that also threatened a nearby structure, Humphrey said.

The 36 firefighters were able to contain the damage to the house and put out the flames in 47 minutes, he said.

“All occupants are reported to have safely evacuated the structure,” Humphrey said.

The home was severely damaged, and the cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
