First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles – Honoring Bridget “Biddy” Mason: Members of the church and local community leaders will place a wreath on Mason’s grave and participate in a program honoring the formerly enslaved businesswoman and entrepreneur on her birthday anniversary in 1818. Mason was the principal organizer of the church, informally called FAME, that is the oldest religious congregation organized by African American in Los Angeles.
