The line, which cost about $2 billion, runs from the intersection of Exposition and Crenshaw boulevards to the Westchester/Veterans station. The line is being extended to the Metro Green Line’s Aviation/LAX Station within the next few years.

Metro’s K Line subway doesn’t include an elevated automated people mover that will take airline passengers to and from LAX, which is currently under construction and is expected to be ready in 2023. The K Line will connect to the new LAX/Metro Transit Center Station, the Aviation/Century Station and the Metro C Line (Green) by 2024.

Free rides are being provided on LA Metro’s entire bus and rail system from noon, Friday, Oct. 7 to the close of service on Sunday, Oct. 9, Wiggins announced.

Metro officials and other VIPs will cut the ribbon on the K Line at the Leimert Park station at noon.
