Throwback To The Steel Woods’ “Straw In The Wind,” & Its Eerie Western Music Video

Music

If you’re anything like me, traditional or western country and southern rock are closely mixed in your listening preferences.

In other words, if you grew up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and George Jones back-to-back then The Steel Woods are the band for you.

And today, we’re taking it back to 2017 and one of my all-time favorite songs from this group is “Straw In The Wind,” with its old western sound and its suspenseful narrative style.

The story takes the listener on a journey, sharing the mystery behind a town where people who lack true and good hearts tend to disappear “like straw in the wind.” It’s definitely got that good versus evil theme we love to see in old western films.

And speaking of western films, the entire video for the song was based around just that – using old footage and western movie clips to bring the message of this eerie ballad to life.

To put it simply, if you like country music, southern rock, John Wayne or Lonesome Dove (and really, who doesn’t love all of these?) then this song is the fusion of them all – an absolute must-listen if you’ve never heard it.

And an absolute must-hear-again if you have.
